Accrediting Association

大学認定協会。アメリカでは、日本の文部省にあたる教育省（U.S. Department of Education）が大学運営に関して全国的な権限をもちません。そこで、民間のaccrediting associationが、全米の大学の質を考査し、その大学を「認可大学」として承認する任を担うのです。全米には以下の六つの認定協会があり、それぞれの対象地域に所在する大学を査定しています。大学選びの際に、まず目指す大学がこれら六つの協会いずれかから認定されていることを確認しましょう。

• Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools（中部）


• New England Association of Schools and Colleges（北東部）


• North Central Association of Schools and Colleges（北中央部）


• Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges（北西部）


• Southern Association of College and Schools（南部）


• Western Association of Schools and Colleges（西部）
