1 (他)〈人・目印などが〉〈人を〉（…へ）道案内する≪to≫；〈観光客などを〉案内［ガイド］する；(自)道案内［ガイド］の役をする．

guide a person through the mountain pass

［類語］

guide だれかを自分のよく知っている場所へ，あるいは場所を案内すること．

lead 人・動物を，特に先頭に立ってある場所へ連れていくこと．

escort 人を見張って，あるいは安全に到着するよう配慮して，ある場所に連れていくこと．

direct ある場所への道順を指示すること．

show, conduct 人を案内して家などの建物を見せて回ること．後者は特に公的な性格の案内に用いる．

2 (他)〈人・動物・乗り物などを〉（…の方向に）進ませる［導く］，誘導する，〈仕事・国などの〉かじを取る，（…に）陥らせる≪to，into，onto≫；…を導いて（…を）切り抜けさせる≪through≫．
