Juki Net

住基ネット 住民基本台帳ネットワーク・システム (=national resident registry network system:市町村が管理する住民基本台帳の情報を、全国共通のコンピュータ・ネットワークで結び、都道府県や国の行政機関にも提供するもので、電子政府・電子自治体の基盤となるシステム。)

住基ネットは、深刻な情報漏れなどの事故もなく、住民サービスの向上と行政事務の効率化で実績を上げている。

Juki Net links four basic items of information concerning every resident of the nation, or their name, address, date of birth and gender, across the country, with the information shared online by the central government and local governments by means of an 11-digit core number for every resident.
住基ネットは、全国民に11桁の住民票コードという番号をつけ、全国の各住民の基本的な4情報(氏名、住所、生年月日と性別)を専用回線で結んで、この情報を政府や各市町村、都道府県がオンラインで共有するシステムだ。

The new common number system will be set up based on Juki Net, or the Basic Resident Registration Network, which was launched in 2002.
新共通番号制度は、2002年に稼働した住基ネット(住民基本台帳ネットワークシステム)を土台にして構築される。
