As it is the government’s duty to help secure the safety of Japanese abroad, the draft revisions of the SDF law call for adding overland transportation of Japanese nationals abroad to the scope of SDF missions.
在留邦人の安全確保支援は政府の責務なので、自衛隊法の改正案は、在留邦人の陸上輸送を自衛隊の任務の範囲に追加するよう求めている。

Under the current SDF law, SDF members would not be able to fire a warning shot even if their vehicles are obstructed during the ground transport of Japanese nationals.
現行の自衛隊法では、在留邦人の陸上輸送中に輸送車両が妨害されても、自衛隊員は警告射撃を行うことができない。
