According to the stipulation of the Public Offices Election Law, a gubernatorial election must be held within 50 days after the president of the prefectural assembly informs the election committee of a governor’s resignation.
公職選挙法の規定によると、知事選挙は、都道府県議会の議長が選挙管理委員会に知事の辞職を通知してから50日以内に実施しなければならない。

If the LDP’s bill to revise the Public Offices Election Law passes, political parties and candidates will be able to update their websites and send out e-mails and the use of blogs, microblogs such as Twitter and social networking services will be liberalized.
自民党の公職選挙法改正案が成立すれば、政党や候補者はホームページの更新や電子メールの送信が可能となり、ブログや「ツイッター」などの簡易投稿サイト、会員制交流サイトなども自由に利用できるようになる。
