待機する 出番を待つ スタンバイする 〜を傍観する 見て見ぬふりする 〜を支持する 〜の肩を持つ 〜を助ける (約束、協定などを)固く守る

stand byの用例

At the enthronement ceremony, the emperor pledged: “I shall act according to the Constitution and fulfill my responsibility as the symbol of the state and of the unity of the people of Japan, while always wishing for the happiness of the people and the peace of the world, turning my thoughts to the people and standing by them.”
即位の礼で、天皇陛下は、「国民の幸せと世界の平和をつねに願い、国民に寄り添いながら、憲法にのっとり、日本国および日本国民統合の象徴としてのつとめを果たす」と誓われた。
