❶〔静かにしている様子〕

たいていの子供は30分もじっとしていられない
Most children cannot sit [keep] still for even thirty minutes.

芝居が終わるまでじっと見ていた
I sat out the play.

それを考えるとじっとしていられない

I felt like crying, but I controlled myself.

He endured the pain stoically.

She patiently waited for her husband to come back.
