❶〔終わりにする〕

今日はこの辺で切り上げよう
Let's stop [leave off] work here for today.／Let's call it a day.

彼は話を早々に切り上げた
He concluded his speech promptly.／He quickly wound up his talk.

旅行を切り上げて直ちに戻った
We cut our trip short and came back at once.

❷〔上の位の数に加える〕raise to a unit

0.5以上の端数を切り上げる
raise [round off] decimals 0.5 and above to the next whole number

❸〔平価などを引き上げる〕

平価［円］を切り上げる
revalue 「the currency [the yen] (upward)
