❷〔聞き入れる〕grant; comply with

会社は従業員の要求を受け入れた
The company 「complied with the employees' requests [agreed to the employees' demands].

彼の主張は受け入れられなかった
His assertions [claims] were 「not accepted [rejected].

彼の本は全く受け入れられなかった
His book met with a cold reception.／No one paid any attention to his book.

❸〔引き受けて世話する〕accept; take in

亡命者を受け入れる
「take in [accept] refugees

その病院は事故の負傷者を50名受け入れた
That hospital admitted fifty people injured in the accident.

この大学は留学生を受け入れている
This university admits [accepts] foreign students.
