❶〔喜ぶこと〕(a) joy, (a) pleasure

彼女は喜びに震えた［喜びで胸がいっぱいだった］
She trembled [was filled] with joy.

Listening to jazz is my greatest pleasure.

彼の成功は私にとって大きな喜びです

In his family happy events, such as his daughter's marriage and his son's graduation from college, occurred one after another.

❸〔祝意〕congratulation；〔祝いの言葉〕congratulations（▼通常複数形で用いる）

喜びの手紙

友達に結婚の喜びを述べるため電報を打った
I sent a telegram to a friend to congratulate him on his marriage.
