❶〔屋根の〕the eaves

Swallows nested under the eaves.

❷〔帽子の〕a visor; the peak (of a cap)

ひさしを貸して母屋を取られる

❶〔一部を貸して全部取られる〕offer to lend a coat and be robbed of even the clothes one is wearing

❷〔善意に付け込まれる〕have one's kindness taken advantage of；((諺)) Give him an inch and he'll take an ell.

❸〔恩をあだで返される〕be bitten by the mouth that accepted one's charity; be returned evil for good
