❶〔分ける〕pull ((persons, things)) apart; separate

けんかをしていた２人の男を引き離した
I pulled apart the two men who were fighting.

あの２人の仲を引き離すことは出来ない

❷〔距離をあける〕run ahead ((of))；outdistance

２着を３メートル引き離してゴールインした
She reached the goal three meters ahead of the runner-up.

我々は２位のチームを大きく引き離した
We have increased our lead over the team in second place.

彼は２位の選手をますます引き離している
He is widening his lead over the next runner.

数学では敬子は愛子を完全に引き離した
Keiko has completely outdistanced Aiko in math.
