Seijinshiki is an annual ceremony organized by local governments to recognize the accession to adulthood of young people who will reach the legal age of twenty during that calendar year. This ceremony is held on the second Monday of January and has been designated a national holiday called “Coming of Age Day."(Before 2000, it fell on January 15.) At the ceremony men normally wear suits while women tend to come fully dressed up, many in long-sleeved kimono called furisode.（意訳：満20歳になった男女が一人前の大人になったことを社会的に承認する儀式．満20歳は法的に成年と見なされ，さまざまな権利・義務を持つようになる．2000年から１月の第２月曜日が成人の日（以前は１月15日）として定められ，国民の祝日の一つとなっている．この日，各地方自治体では成人になった青年男女を招待して祝典を開く．男性はスーツ，女性は振り袖などの晴れ着を着て出席することが多い）
