❶〔外に〕throw out

走っている列車から投げ出された
He was flung [thrown] out of a moving train.

草の上に足を投げ出した
We sat on the grass with our legs stretched out.

❷〔差し出す〕

彼女のためだったら全財産を投げ出してもいい
I would give all I have for her.

彼女は自分の命を投げ出して子供を救った
She sacrificed her life to save the child.／She saved the child at the sacrifice [cost] of her own life.

❸〔あきらめる〕

彼はせっかく築いた地位を投げ出す破目になった
He was forced to 「resign from [give up] the post he had worked so hard to obtain.
