I failed in spite of all my efforts.

雨天にもかかわらず出掛けた
She went out 「in spite of [《文》 despite] the rain.

才能があるにもかかわらず不遇だった
With all his ability, he lived in obscurity.

彼らは出来るだけのことはしたが，それにもかかわらず患者を救うことは出来なかった
Although [Though] they did their best, they could not save the patient.

❷〔…に関係なく〕

晴雨にかかわらず決行する
We will go through with it rain or shine.

有能な人なら男女［年齢/国籍］にかかわらず採用する
We will employ a person who is able irrespective [regardless] of gender [age/nationality].

彼の賛成，不賛成にかかわらず私は行くつもりだ
I will go whether he approves or not.
