childlike naiveté

a huge [towering] wave

❷〔例示して〕

彼のような金持ち
a rich man like him

この様な本
such a book as this

そんなことを信じる様なばかではない
I'm not so foolish as to believe that.

彼女はそんなことを言うような人ではない
She is not the sort of person to say something like that.

❸〔…とかいう〕

かつて私と結婚したかったのだという様な手紙を彼からもらって驚いた
I was surprised to receive from him a letter to the effect that he had once hoped to marry me.

今年の冬も厳しくなる様な話だ
They say we will have another cold winter.
