❶〔壊滅させる〕destroy；《口》 wipe out

敵を滅ぼした
They overthrew their enemies.

The natives were exterminated by the whites.

平家は源氏の軍勢に滅ぼされた
The Heike clan was 「wiped out [completely destroyed] by the Genji army.

❷〔身を〕ruin

酒を飲み過ぎて身を滅ぼした
He 「ruined himself [《米口》 did himself in] by drinking too much.
