おわる【終わる】

〔おしまいになる〕end, be over, finish, be finished；〔おしまいにする〕finish, end（▼finishは「完成する，完了する」意味に対し，endは「やめる」という意味）

試験はすぐに終わる
The examinations will soon be over.

本を読み終わった
I have finished (reading) the book.／I have read the book through.

戦争が終わった
The war has come to an end.／The war ended.

交渉が終わった
The negotiations have been terminated.／〔まとまった場合〕The negotiations have been concluded [wound up].

お弁当が終わってから
after lunch

宴会は10時に終わった
The party broke up at ten.

家の改築はまだ終わらない
The rebuilding of our house has not been completed yet.

成功（裡）に終わる
end successfully [in success]

失敗に終わる
end in failure
