Permanent Court of Arbitration
(オランダ・ハーグの)常設仲裁裁判所 (1899年の「国際紛争平和的処理条約」に基づき設立された紛争処理機関で、中国やフィリピンなど117か国が加盟。国連の国際司法裁判所(ハーグ)が国家間の紛争を扱うのに対して、常設仲裁裁判所は、領土問題や人権、商業上の紛争のほか、国際組織や個人の紛争についても仲裁する。加盟国が国際法の専門家らを4人まで裁判官として任命し、紛争発生時に当事者は裁判官名簿のなかから裁判官を選ぶことができる。国連の国際司法裁判所と違って、一方の当事者が仲裁手続きを拒否しても、手続きは進められる。⇒International Court of Justice)
