The antiviral drug “remdesivil,” originally developed as a drug for the Ebola hemorrhagic fever, has been approved under exceptional measures as the first new coronavirus treatment in Japan.
もともとエボラ出血熱の薬として開発された抗ウイルス薬「レムデシベル」が、日本国内初の新型コロナウイルス治療薬として、特例的に承認された。

The antiviral drug remdesivir has been shown to be effective to a certain extent against the new coronavirus by clinical trials in the Unites States. But it is designed for people in serious condition who need to be on a ventilator and there are side effects such as decreased kidney and liver functions.
抗ウイルス薬のレムデシベルは、米国の臨床試験では、新型コロナウイルスに対して一定の効果が見られた。でもレムデシビルは、人工呼吸器を装着しなければならない重症者向けで、腎機能や肝機能の低下などの副作用がある。
