Himawari satellites are placed in stationary orbit 36,000 kilometers above the equator at 140 degrees east longitude, from where they hourly photograph cloud and vapor formations over a quarter of the Earth.
衛星(静止気象衛星)「ひまわり」は、東経140度の赤道上空、高度36,000キロの静止軌道に置かれ、静止軌道から地球の4分の1の範囲の雲や水蒸気の状態を1時間ごとに撮影している。
