❶〔草が生い茂る様子〕

庭は草ぼうぼうだった
Weeds were growing all over the garden.／The yard was overrun [rampant] with weeds.

❷〔髪などが乱れている様子〕

髭ぼうぼうの男
a man with a shaggy beard

髪をぼうぼうに伸ばしていた
He had long, scraggly [unkempt] hair.

❸〔火が盛んに燃えている様子〕

The fire is burning furiously [briskly].
