スイスは風光の明媚(めいび)をもって知られる
Switzerland is famous for its scenic beauty.

彼女は秀才をもって知られている
She is well known as a brilliant scholar.

❸〔「を」を強調して〕

彼をもって嚆矢(こうし)とする
He will be the first (to do it).

奈良をもって日本史上最重要の町とする
There is no other town in Japan more important historically than Nara.

❹〔それによって〕and (so); therefore

もって彼を最優秀選手と認定する
Therefore [And so/《文》 Hence] we declare him the outstanding player.
