❶〔理解する〕understand；〔洞察する〕see；〔よさを認める〕appreciate
彼の言っていることは分からない
I don't understand what he's saying.
私の言うことが分かってもらえなかった
I could not 「make myself understood [get my point across].
君の理屈はちっとも分からない
I cannot follow your reasoning [logic/line of thinking].
それで訳が分かりました
That explains [accounts for] it.
私には到底分からない
It is beyond me [my comprehension].
何をやらかそうとしているのか皆目分からない
I haven't the slightest [faintest] idea what he is trying to do.／〔行動が不可解だ〕I can't make any sense out of his behavior.

I am no judge of ceramics.
❹〔判明する〕turn out
殺したのは被害者の夫と分かった
The murderer turned out to be the victim's husband.
これで彼女の言ったことが本当だと分かる
This proves [shows] that what she said was true.
選挙の結果はいつ分かりますか
When will the outcome of the election be announced [(made) known]?／When will we know the election results?
真相がだんだん分かってきた
The truth gradually dawned on me.
❺〔道理が分かる〕
彼はもう少しものの分かる人かと思っていた
〔常識がある〕I thought he was a more sensible [understanding] man.（▼understandingは理解がある）／I thought he had more sense.／〔融通性がある〕I thought he was more flexible.
