❶〔はがす〕tear off

彼女はそのページをはぎ取ったShe tore off that page.／彼女はそのページをノートからはぎ取った
She tore that page out of her notebook.

像の飾りの宝石をはぎ取った
They tore [stripped] the decorative jewels off the statue.

強盗の覆面をはぎ取った
I ripped [tore] the mask off the burglar's face.

❷〔奪い取る〕strip ((a person)) of ((his clothes))

山賊に身ぐるみはぎ取られた
I was robbed [stripped] of all I had by a bandit.

軍曹の地位をはぎ取られた
He was stripped [《文》 divested] of his rank as sergeant.
