❶〔動きに伴う力〕force
風の勢い
the force of the wind
あらしの勢いは全然衰えない
The storm has not let up a bit.
流れの勢いが強い
The current is strong.
勢いよく蛇口から水がほとばしり出た
Water gushed out of the tap.
❷〔元気，活気〕energy; vigor，《英》 vigour
大した勢いだね
What energy!
彼は昔の勢いがなくなった
He has lost his old vigor.
彼は勢いよく漕ぎ出した
He started to row 「with vigor [energetically].
彼女のちょっとした一言で，彼らは勢いをそがれてしまった
