saliva; spittle; spit

彼は手をつばでぬらして縄を握った
He wet his hand with saliva [spit] and gripped the rope.

私の顔につばを飛ばしてしゃべった
He spluttered in my face as he spoke.

りんごを見たら口につばがたまった
My mouth watered at the sight of the apple.

道につばを吐いた
He spat on the road.

ごくっとつばを飲み込んだ
He swallowed hard.
