❶〔細工品を作る原型〕a model ((for))，a pattern；〔鋳型〕a mold，《英》 a mould

ドレスの型を取る
cut out a pattern for a dress

歯の型を取る
make [take] an impression of a person's teeth

鉛を型に流し込む
pour lead into a mold

❷〔スポーツなどで決まった動作〕

バレエ［剣道］の型
basic positions [movements] in ballet [kendo]

❸〔伝統的・習慣的な形式〕(a) form

彼は型のごとく８時半の列車に乗った
He took the 8:30 train as usual.

型にはまった言い回し
a conventional [stereotyped] expression／a cliché

彼の型にはまらないアイデアがいい
I like his unconventional ideas.

型を破る
「break with [violate] tradition／break the mold

❹〔特有の様式〕
