❶〔特定の時〕a case; an occasion

雨天の場合は運動会を中止する
「In case of rain [If it rains], the athletic meet will be called off.

この服はあらゆる場合に着られる
This dress can be worn on all occasions.

この規則はあなたの場合にあてはまらない
This rule does not apply to your case.

泣いている場合ではない
This is no time for tears.

❷〔事情〕circumstances; conditions

どんな場合でも
in all cases／no matter what the circumstances (may be)

今の場合止むを得ない
It cannot be helped under the present circumstances [conditions].

時と場合によっては認めてもよい
That may be permitted depending on the situation.
