かかえる【抱える】

❶〔手・腕などで〕

小脇に抱える
carry ((a thing)) under one's arm

頭を抱える
hold [bury] one's head [face] in one's hands

腹を抱えて笑う
hold one's sides with laughter／laugh wholeheartedly

❷〔不安・負担になるものを持つ〕

病人を抱えている
have a sick person on one's hands

すきっ腹を抱えてうろつき回った
He wandered around on an empty stomach.

There is an ever-present danger of strife in that country.
