❶〔まき散らす〕scatter

突風が桜の花を散らした
A gust of wind 「scattered the cherry blossoms [caused a shower of cherry blossoms].

天井から舞台に紙吹雪を散らした
They scattered [showered] bits of paper snow onto the stage from the ceiling.

火打ち石が火花を散らした
The flint gave off sparks.

❷〔追い散らす〕disperse

警官は群衆を散らした
The policemen dispersed [scattered] the crowd.
