❶〔空が〕become cloudy

一日中曇っていた
It was cloudy all day.

突然空が曇った
Suddenly the sky became overcast.

空は曇っている
The sky is overcast.

❷〔不鮮明になる〕become dim

湯気で鏡が曇った
The mirror was clouded (up [over]) with steam.

涙で目が曇った
My eyes were dim with tears.

眼鏡が曇った
My glasses have fogged up.

この眼鏡は高温多湿でも曇りません
These glasses are not misted by high temperature or humidity.

All his troubles cast a cloud (of gloom) over his heart.
