❶〔願望する〕want, wish，《文》 desire ((to do, a person to do))
彼は君がそれをすることを望んでいる
He'd like you to do it.
画家になりたいと望んでいる
He wants to be an artist.
君が望むなら一緒に行きましょう
If you wish, I will come with you.
君が望むようにしたらよい
Do as you like [wish/want].
それこそ望むところです
I could ask nothing better.／That's exactly what I wanted.
