❶〔分からせる〕let ((a person)) know；〔告げる〕tell ((a person about [that]))，《文》 inform ((a person of a matter))；〔暗に知らせる〕suggest

なるべく早く知らせます
I will let you know as soon as possible.

それはまだ彼に知らせていない
I have not told him about it yet.

その件は父に知らせずにいた
I kept the matter (secret) from my father.

彼の顔つきは何か恐ろしいことが起こったことを知らせているようだ
His look seems to suggest that something terrible has happened.

❷〔通報する〕notify, report；〔予告する〕give notice

事故を警察に知らせる
notify the police of an accident／report an accident to the police

辞める時は１か月前に知らせてくれ
Give me a month's notice when you quit.
