まつる【祭る】

❶〔儀式を行って神霊を慰める〕offer prayers ((for))

祖先の霊を祭る
hold a ceremony (to pray) for the repose of one's ancestors

❷〔神としてあがめる〕deify, worship as a god, enshrine；〔安置する〕set up ((a statue)) in a place where people will show it reverence

この神社は明治天皇を祭ってある
