❶〔移動する〕move ((from, to))
新居へ移ったばかりです
I have just moved to a new house.
❷〔地位などが変わる〕be transferred ((from, to))
彼女は総務部に移った
She was transferred to the general affairs section.
政治の中心は京都から東京に移った
The political center shifted from Kyoto to Tokyo.
その店はすでに人手に移っていた
The store had already passed into another person's hands.
❸〔時が経つ〕
時代は移った
Times have changed.
時が移るとともにその英雄的行為も忘れられた
With the passage of time, that heroic act was forgotten.
❹〔話題・興味などが変わる〕

The discussion turned to the population problem.
あれからこれへと話は移った
The conversation drifted from one topic to another.

おたふく風邪が移ったらしい
I seem to have caught the mumps.

I got [picked up] the habit from my father.

The fire spread to the house next door.
