❶〔置かれた状況〕 ((in)) a situation；((in)) a position

我が国は今難しい［微妙な］立場にある
Our country is in a 「difficult situation [delicate position] now.

君の不用意な言葉で僕はまずい立場に立たされてしまった
Your careless remark put me in an awkward position.

私はこの件についてははっきりしたことが言えない立場にある
I am not in a position to say anything definite about this case.

あなたのような立場にはなりたくない
I wouldn't want to be in your shoes [position].

私があなたの立場ならその金は取らないね
If I were you, I would not take the money.

❷〔見地，観点〕 ((from)) a viewpoint；((from)) a standpoint

異なる立場から彼はその件を論じた
He discussed the matter from a different 「point of view [viewpoint/angle].

彼は立場を明らかにしなかった
He did not make his standpoint clear.

この法案は私の政治的立場から反対しなければならない
My political stance [stand] being what it is, I have to oppose this bill.

彼の立場からするとそれは時間の浪費だ
From his viewpoint, it is a waste of time.
