❶〔親類関係〕(a) relationship；〔人〕a relative, a relation

我々二人は近い縁故関係にある
We are closely related to each other.

❷〔関係，手づる〕 ((use one's)) connections（▼複数形），《口》 pull

あの会社には縁故がある
I have connections [influential friends] in the firm.

縁故をたどる
hunt [look] up connections

縁故採用された
I got a [my] job through personal contacts.

彼は縁故入学と噂された
It was rumored that he got admitted to the university through influential contacts.
