He is in the habit of getting up early.

習慣となった飲酒
habitual drinking

朝食前にジョギングをするのが彼の習慣だ
It is his practice to go jogging before breakfast.

寝る前に一風呂浴びるのが彼の習慣になっていた
「As a rule [Usually] he took a bath before he went to bed.

つい習慣で旧姓で呼んでしまった
I addressed her by her maiden name just out of habit.

❷〔しきたり〕a custom, a practice

習慣の customary

年上の人にお辞儀をするのはこの国の習慣だ
It is 「the custom [customary] in this country to bow to one's seniors.

この村では村人が年末に集まって餅をつく習慣がある
It is customary [the practice] for the people in this village to gather at the end of the year and pound steamed rice for rice cakes.
