❶〔意味〕(a) meaning; sense
訳の分からないことば
mumbo jumbo／gibberish
訳の分からない言葉をつぶやいた
He muttered 「some words which did not make sense [something incomprehensible].
彼が何を言っているのか訳が分からない
What he says makes no sense.／I can make nothing of what he says.
❷〔道理〕
訳の分かった人
a sensible man／a man of (good) sense
訳の分かったような顔をしている
He looks as if he knows what is what.
❸〔理由〕(a) reason ((for; why))
会が中止になった訳は知りません
I don't know (the reason) why the meeting was canceled.
彼らが離婚したのはもちろん訳があったのです
Of course, there was 「a special reason [something] behind their divorce.
どういう訳か彼は来なかった
For some reason or other he did not come.
それで訳が分かった
That accounts for it.
訳もなく断るわけにはいかない
You cannot refuse without a reason.

I don't know why, but I feel irritated.
❹〔事情〕circumstances
そんな訳で断れなかった
「Under those circumstances [Such being the case,] I could not refuse.

There is a long story behind it.

「If that is the case [If so], I will help you.
❺〔結果として当然であること〕

❻〔面倒〕
それは訳のないことだ
That's an easy matter. ⇒わけ（は）ない（訳（は）無い）
❼〔否定・断定をやわらげて〕
だからといって君が憎い訳ではない
It doesn't mean that I hate you.
…する訳にはいかない
彼が行かないなら私も行く訳にはいかない
If he doesn't go, I can't go either.
…ない訳にはいかない
それなら行かない訳にはいかない
Then I must go.
それを聞いて手を貸さない訳にはいかなかった
