❶〔距離が近くなる〕approach
私たちは山の頂上に迫った
We approached [got close to] the top of the mountain.
崖(がけ)が海に迫っている
The cliff rises sharply from the sea.／The cliff falls sharply into the sea.
トムはわずかの差で第２位に迫っていた
Tom was running a close third.
