❶〔逆行する〕go against ((a thing))

風に逆らって船を進める
sail against the wind／sail in the teeth of the wind

波［流れ］に逆らって泳ぐ
swim against the current [stream]

fly in the face of Providence

運命に逆らう
fight against fate

❷〔反抗する〕defy; rebel ((against)) ⇒はんこう（反抗）

親に逆らう
defy [disobey] one's parents

親に逆らって大学を中退した
He dropped out of college against [in defiance of] his parents' wishes.
