❶〔選択する〕choose

これが私の選んだ絵です
This is the picture I chose.

彼はよいものを選んだ
He made 「a good [the right] choice.

どれでも欲しい本を選びなさい
Choose any book you want.

この二つの中からどちらかを選びなさい
Choose between [one of] these two.

このほかに選べる道はありません
There is no 「other choice [alternative].

昇進のためには手段を選ばないだろう

❷〔好みとして選ぶ〕prefer ((one thing to another))

彼の作品の中から最高のものを選ぶ

❹〔選挙する〕elect

彼女はクラス代表に選ばれた
She was elected class representative.

山田氏は鳥取から代議士に選ばれた
Mr. Yamada was elected to the Diet from Tottori.

選ぶ所がない

この二つは選ぶ所がない
There is little to choose between the two.
