❶〔引き受けて保管する〕keep
この旅行かばんを預かってください
Please keep this suitcase for me.
このお金を預かって欲しい
I want you to keep this money for me.／I'd like to leave this money in your keeping.／〔銀行で〕I'd like to deposit this money.
彼は学校の鍵を預かっている
He has charge of the school keys.
❷〔引き受けて世話をする〕
昼間子供を５人預かっている
I 「look after [take care of] five children during the day.
私は彼の別荘を預かっている
I have [am in] charge of his summer cottage.／I look after his summer cottage.
夫婦の旅行中は私が留守を預かっていた
While the couple were away on a trip, I took care of their house.
彼女は一家の家計を預かっている
She handles [manages] the family finances.
❸〔保留する〕
審判は競技を中止し勝負を預かった
The referee stopped the game [match], leaving the outcome undecided.
君の辞表はしばらく預かっておく
