説明
An ekiben is a box lunch sold at train stations or on trains. While a generic makunouchi bento with rice and side dishes is the standard, local specialties are often incorporated into ekiben. As high-speed rail makes travel times shorter and more options become available for takeout food, ekiben sales have been falling. Traveling through Japan by rail, however, still offers a unique chance to enjoy the culinary treats of various regions courtesy of ekiben.（意訳：鉄道の駅や車内で売られている弁当のこと．定番は幕の内弁当であるが，地方特有の駅弁も販売されている．列車の高速化やコンビニ弁当の持ち込みなどによって売上は落ちているが，日本各地を鉄道で旅行すればその地方の名産を生かした駅弁が堪能できる）
