[語法]unlessとif ... notの違い

(1) unless 節は「もし…という例外（的なこと）がなければ」を表し，unless 節で述べられていることが実際に起こる確率は if ... not の場合よりも低いという含みがある

You needn't write to me unless there is something new.
（あまりないとは思うが）何か新しいことがない限り手紙はよこさなくて結構です（◆You needn't write to me if there isn't anything new. は「何か新しいことがなかったら手紙をよこさなくて結構です」）．

(2) 通例仮定法では unless は用いない．
