みだれる【乱れる】

❶〔乱雑になる〕fall into disorder; be disarranged

カードの順序が乱れている
〔でたらめだ〕The cards are out of order.／〔間違っている〕The cards are in the wrong order.

乱れた髪［服］
disheveled [rumpled] hair [clothing]

室内は少しも乱れた様子がなかった
〔きちんとしていた〕In the room everything looked in good order.／〔荒らされた形跡がない〕The room did not seem to have been disturbed at all.

列は最後まで乱れなかった
The line stayed in perfect order to the tail end.

❷〔整っていたものが崩れる〕fall into disorder

校内の風紀はひどく乱れていた
The school was completely lacking in discipline.

社会の風紀は乱れている
Our society has become morally corrupt.

豪雪のため列車のダイヤが乱れた
The train schedule was disrupted due to a heavy snowfall.

❸〔平静でなくなる〕be confused [muddled]

彼女のあでやかな姿にすっかり気持ちが乱れてしまった
Her lovely figure made me lose all my self-possession.

Even when he drinks he doesn't lose control of himself.

Her heart was torn by various contradicting sentiments.

❹〔騒乱状態になる〕

引き続く戦争のため国は大いに乱れた
The successive wars threw the country into chaos [a chaotic state].
