Koban are small-scale satellite police stations found in strategic spots within a police precinct. Uniformed officers are rotated to be on duty for tasks ranging from giving directions and filing lost-and-found reports to emergency response. They are designed to provide easy access for citizens and to facilitate communication between the police and residents in the neighborhood.
