❶〔満足，自慢〕
彼女は得意の絶頂だ
She is feeling extremely happy and proud of herself.
クーデターは首相を得意の絶頂から失意の底に突き落とした
The coup d'état knocked the premier from the heights of glory to the depths of despair.
ちょっとうまく行ったからといって得意になってはいけない
Don't become complacent [smug] over your small successes.
彼は見え透いたお世辞ですぐ得意になる
He is easily pleased [flattered] by empty compliments.
彼は得意になって父親の手柄話をしたものだ
He would boast triumphantly of his father's exploits.
彼は有名人と並んで写真をとっては得意になっている
He takes delight in being photographed (side by side) with celebrities.
❷〔優れていること〕
彼は算数が得意だ
He is good at arithmetic.

This store does a lot of business.
得意回り
彼は勤め先の銀行の得意回りをした
He visited [went the rounds of] the customers [《英》 clients] of the bank he worked for.

彼は得意満面で釣り上げた魚を見せた
He was beaming with triumph as he showed us the fish he had caught.
