❶〔放り出す〕throw away；〔どさっと投げ下ろす〕dump，《英》 tip
ごみを捨てる
dump trash [garbage]

❸〔見限る，見離す〕

She was deserted [left] by her husband.／Her husband walked out on her.

He was jilted by his fiancée.
祖国を捨てる
desert one's home country
彼は世を捨て隠遁生活を送った
He renounced the world and lived in seclusion.
彼だってまんざら捨てたものではない
